Davies wants to keep Shorey

Boss Billy Davies hopes to turn Nicky Shorey's loan spell at Nottingham Forest into a permanent deal.

Left-back Shorey moved to the City Ground on a month's loan from Aston Villa last week and made his debut as the Reds climbed into the Championship play-off places with an impressive 4-1 home win over Doncaster on Saturday.

"We've signed him for 28 days and after that point we'll try and sit down and negotiate with Aston Villa with regards to extending the loan or, fingers crossed, trying to conclude a permanent deal," said Davies.
