After winning his first championship with the Golden State Warriors last season, Kevin Durant justified his decision to join the franchise as a free agent. The small forward was heavily criticised for making the move to the Bay Area to join the league's most dominant team. Despite blowing a 3-1 lead to lose to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2016 Finals, the Dubs won a record a 73 regular season games and were already a formidable force. The addition of KD elevated them to another level and as we saw in the playoffs, they were by far the most superior team in the league. The Warriors won the title by going an astonishing 16-1 in the postseason and are set to embark on a dynasty that should see them win multiple rings should they keep this roster together. That was made easier by Durant's sacrifice this summer as he re-signed with the Oakland-based franchise by taking a $7 million pay cut to allow them to bring back important role players such as Andre Iguodala, Shaun Livingston and JaVale McGee. But even after he won the title and was named as the Finals MVP, it hasn't proved to be enough to silence his critics. After remaining tight-lipped for much of his first year in Oakland, the 2014 MVP now has the right to hit back after his success and he has done so on a number of occasions via social media during this offseason. His most recent response to an internet troll from New Zealand was definitely among his best so far. The fan tweeted KD saying: "My college team started 7-0 this last season. I'm sure you're already considering joining us! #anythingforafreering"Durant's response was hilarious as he offered advice, saying: "nah y'all don't have enough shooting."
The fan wasn't done there, though,
"What do we have to do? Be the most dominant team in the league and beat you the year before? Or do you want us to blow a 3-1 lead?" he said.
Surprisingly, the Warriors superstar decided to continue engaging with the fan and continued to have fun with it.
The eight-time All-Star is clearly enjoying responding to Twitter trolls this offseason and long may it continue.
The 27-year-old has already done his talking on the court but feels he has to put his critics in their place by not giving them the satisfaction they're seeking via social media. I'm sure this won't be the last troll Durant decides to have fun with.
