Danny Swailes is set to make his debut for Northampton when Hereford visit Sixfields.

The centre-half joined the Cobblers on a month-long loan deal from MK Dons on deadline day last week but was ineligible for the 3-2 FA Cup defeat to Southampton on Saturday.

He could be joined in a new-look back four by Middlesbrough loanee John Johnson, who will return at right-back after recovering from a hamstring injury.

Manager Ian Sampson is sill without Dean Beckwith (hamstrings), Abdul Osman (back), Courtney Herbert (back), Chris McCready (hamstring) and Liam Davis (foot) as he looks for a first win in six games.

Top scorer Steve Guinan will start up front and will be looking for a win against the Bulls - for whom he scored 15 times last season.

Jordon Mutch and Nat Wedderburn will be hoping to make their league debuts for Hereford as they get back to league matters.

Mutch gave an assured display during Saturday's heartbreaking FA Cup defeat to Colchester and should again start from the off at Sixfields, while fellow midfielder Wedderburn was an unused substitute.

Defender Ryan Green overcame another dead leg to keep his place in John Trewick's starting XI and he will again line up against the Cobblers.

Midfielder Edrissa Sonko missed out due to illness, however, and will be assessed over the next 24 hours, while long-term absentee Craig Jones (back) remains on the sidelines.

Hereford's league form has been pretty positive on the whole of late - winning three, drawing two and losing two of their last seven - and Trewick will be keen to see his side pick up their first away win of the season against a Northampton side who lie just two points behind them.
