Middlesbrough boss Gordon Strachan is confident his promotion-chasers can bridge the gap to the Coca-Cola Championship pace-setters.
Top two Newcastle and West Brom opened up a significant gap over their main pursuers at the weekend with the Magpies eight points and the Baggies six clear of Leicester in third. However, Strachan, who is still waiting for his first win as 10th-placed Boro's boss after Saturday's 2-2 draw at Peterborough, insists the division remains as tight as ever.
He said: "There's five points from us up to the third position, so there's not much in it. But you need to get on a run and start winning games."
He added: "Anybody can put in a decent run. Nobody seems to be putting in a really consistent run.
"The two teams at the top have, in the last four or five games, got their act together and it just shows if you put in about four or five games, you can leap right up there."
