British boxer and heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has expressed his interest in one day taking part in a UFC fight.

Although it's a far cry from what he's used to on a daily basis, the Brit has admitted that one day it is something that could interest him.

Going the opposite direction from Conor McGregor, who is set to swap the Octagon for the ring in order to fight Floyd Mayweather on Saturday, Joshua plans on fighting in the UFC.

The Mirror reports him saying: “I like fighting, I’ll do whatever.”

Joshua, a seasoned boxer with several major titles, realises the stark differences in the style of fighting between boxing and the UFC matches.

Speaking to Press Association Sport, Joshua said: "I'd probably get beaten. The only thing that they can't do is submissions, but they can kick, elbow, bite - whatever they want. Just no submissions.

"I can't beat a guy (via submission). That takes a lot of time to learn the skills and submissions, which I don't have the time for, but when it comes to pure aggression and fighting rules, I can definitely fight, so I don't mind that.”

Joshua clearly lacks experience in the type of fighting that the UFC employs, but strongly believes in his athletic and fighting ability to be an imposing force in the cage fights.

And why shouldn't he. In his 19 fights so far, he's won all of them, and none of them have gone the distance.

With victories over the likes of Dillian Whyte and Wladimir Klitschko, Joshua has proven he can hang with the heavy punchers, so why not try something new and take to the Octagon?

Coming back from holiday, Joshua sees the importance of returning to his stern mindset, as he said: “I've been away with the family and need to get back to reality.

"Sitting on the beach getting my toes rubbed, that's not the life of an athlete.”

Whether one day he eventually takes part in UFC fighting is unknown, but his passion and knowledge of how to fight will make him a figure to go up against.
