Former WWE Champion CM Punk continues to face criticism for his decision to jump into the world of mixed martial arts (MMA) after leaving the professional wrestling realm.

Punk signed with WWE back in 2005 and remained with the company until 2014 when he departed from the WWE after growing tired of part-timers coming in and taking the top spot on cards such as WrestleMania. He also grew tired of the WWE's medical staff avoiding treating a swelling that built up on him while he was inside the ring. During his time with the WWE he won the ECW World Title once, the World Heavyweight Championship three times, two WWE Championships, an Intercontinental Title reign, and a Tag Team Title reign. At one point, Punk reigned as WWE Champion for a record 434 days.

"The Cult Of Personality" decided to sign a multi-fight deal with the UFC back in December of 2014 and announced his intentions to begin a career in MMA. He trained for two years at one of the most respected gyms in the sport, Roufusport, and made his debut at UFC 203 in Cleveland last September.

He would lose that fight via first round submission with a rear-naked choke to Mickey Gall just over two minutes into the fight. He is currently under UFC contract, however, UFC President Dana White has been on record of saying that he doesn't think CM Punk's next fight will happen in the UFC.

It should be interesting to see if Punk fights again in the UFC after his initial performance, and who the promotion matches him up with if he is given another chance. Recently, UFC commentator Joe Rogan took to his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, and touched on Punk being in the UFC.

While joking around with his friend and ex-UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub, Rogan noted that he believes actor and Hollywood star Brad Pitt could beat CM Punk in a fight (quotes via Wrestling Inc.):

"I think Brad Pitt would f—- CM Punk up," Rogan explained.

"Also I think Brad Pitt - that guy lived with Angelina Jolie for like 10 years. Do you know how much rage he must have pent up inside of him? Talk of organic sustainable farming and adopting new kids."

"Just so angry listening to that crazy lady he lived with for decades."
