We’re finally in fight week as the UFC’s Conor McGregor aims to do the unthinkable and become the first fighter in history to defeat Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Despite being the current UFC lightweight champion – and the featherweight champion in his opinion – the Notorious said and did all of the right things to switch from the Octagon to a boxing ring as he successfully lured Money out of retirement for one final fight.

SUPER FIGHT

Both men have done an incredible job of hyping up the fight to an extent where even the most casual of fans will want to tune in on Saturday night, following on from their antics during their four-city press tour in Los Angeles, Toronto, Brooklyn and London.

They’ve remained in the limelight since, especially the Irishman, as the whole saga with Paulie Malignaggi blew up with fans still divided on how this will go down.

Either the 49-0 American will be in for the easiest night of his life and pick up win number 50, or McGregor will cause perhaps the greatest sporting upset in history, and the fight game will certainly have a strange feeling surrounding it if Mayweather loses.

That’s exactly what John Kavanagh believes is going to happen.

Obviously, the head coach of SBG Ireland was never going to doubt McGregor’s chances with his team confident that a knockout within four rounds could occur.

DOMINATING

Speaking to The Mac Life, Kavanagh admits that this isn’t even the hardest fight of McGregor’s career and expects him to dominate from the first bell.

He said: “I feel this is a very interesting fight.

“In terms of both camps have such high expectations. Like, a lot of the time you’ll go into an MMA fight and you expect to win, but there’s a possibility of losing.

“And I feel like on their side — they don’t expect Conor to land a punch. They don’t expect to win, they expect it to be an absolute walk in the park.

“They don’t expect a shot to land. And I can honestly say when I speak about Conor; I don’t expect this to be the hardest fight of all time for Conor. I expect him to go in there and completely dominate.

“So, one of [the teams] is living in a delusion. But I really find it hard to imagine anything else other than Conor really putting on a clinic and really just destroying him.”

While many would say it’s Kavanagh and McGregor living in delusion, they’re used to being doubted throughout Conor’s career and are probably looking forward to saying, ‘I told you so’ to the media and the doubters.

Either that, or they'll be laughing all the way to the bank.
