The majority of Americans on Monday were fascinated by the natural phenomenon that was happening in the skies, that being a solar eclipse. It was a huge talking point amongst many people across the United States as it doesn't happen that often, including those that are involved in the NBA, but most people used it as an opportunity to point and laugh at others in some way or another. Some NBA teams made fun of how many times they have blocked the Phoenix Suns from scoring baskets like the Moon is blocking the Sun's light. Others used the opportunity to disprove and make fun of other theories about our universe which NBA players believe in.Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban used the solar eclipse to take a shot on Twitter at those people that believe the Earth is actually flat, and not spherical, as he tweeted: "Anyone still think the Earth is flat?"Although this was likely directed at all people that believe the Earth is flat, most NBA fans who responded to Cuban's tweet believe he only had one person in his sights when he wrote this tweet, Cleveland Cavaliers' Kyrie Irving.
Irving famously said during an interview on a podcast near the start of the year that he believes the Earth is flat and not spherical because: "There is no concrete information except for the information that they're giving us. They're particularly putting you in the direction of what to believe and what not to believe. The truth is right there, you just got to go searching for it."
Needless to say, there aren't that many people out there that believe him, and Cuban isn't one of them either. Irving has said he isn't going to be backing down from his beliefs anytime soon either, although this recent solar eclipse provides good evidence to disprove his claims.
