Floyd Mayweather suggested that Conor McGregor might fail to make the 154lbs weight limit for Saturday’s super-fight in Las Vegas.

"Conor McGregor is extremely heavy right now," Mayweather said. "I think he's 164 so he's still got 10 pounds to go.

"I get that extra money if you can't make the weight. Get those extra millions ready. UFC get those extra millions ready.

"You got to get that weight down like a true champion. A true champion is disciplined and very responsible but we'll see."

Mayweather’s comments prompted a furious response from McGregor, who said the American will feel “every pound” when they meet inside the T-Mobile Arena.

The Irishman said, per the Mirror: “Tell him to shut his f****** mouth. He knows nothing, the fool of a thing. Let him keeping praying, praying for weight, praying for fatigue, praying for me to take a backwards step. All he’s doing is praying to the new god of boxing.

"My weight is phenomenal, when have I ever missed weight? Let him think what he wants.

"I'll be a lot heavier than he is [on the night] and make no mistake, he’ll feel every pound."

What would happen if McGregor missed 154lbs limit

So, what would happen if McGregor actually does miss weight?

Well, the fight would still go ahead. Which is good news for everyone who has bought a ticket, has paid for the pay-per-view or has made a bet on Mayweather v McGregor.

However, the Notorious would receive a fine for failing to fulfil his part of the contract.

Considering McGregor has vowed to meet the 154lbs limit, it’s highly unlikely he’ll struggle to shed those few extra pounds.

McGregor predicted an early KO

The Dubliner hasn’t been given much hope of beating Mayweather by the experts but not only does he believe he will beat the 49-0 star, he reckons it’ll take him just one or two rounds to knock him out.

"I believe I’ll knock him out early, in one or two rounds,” McGregor said. “But I’m starting to think I’ll toy with him when he goes down.

"In martial arts I can step past the legs and pound the head and stiffen the body. Boxing is different where the referee can stop me following up so there will be 8-10 seconds when he can recover.

"If he does I may decide to toy with him but I have the ability to put him away inside two rounds."

It’s only a few days before we find out whether Mystic Mac’s latest prediction comes true.
