Jose Semedo is ruled out of Charlton's home game against Southend.

The Portuguese midfielder serves a one-match ban after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season at Brighton on Tuesday so Therry Racon could be recalled in the centre.

Full-backs Kelly Youga (knee) and Frazer Richardson (hamstring) remain doubtful and Chris Solly (knee) is still out so Grant Basey and Elliot Omozusi look set to keep their places.

Young winger Scott Wagstaff marked his first league start with a goal in the win at Brighton and should keep his spot on the left.

Akpo Sodje plays the final game of his one-month loan deal but boss Phil Parkinson has confirmed he wants to extend the Sheffield Wednesday striker's spell at The Valley.

Southend welcome one player back from suspension but have lost another for the same reason.

Defender Anthony Grant has missed the last two games after racing to 10 yellow cards this season but he is free to return against Phil Parkinson's men.

His comeback is offset by the loss of Jean-Francois Christophe, though, after he picked up his fifth caution against Norwich on Tuesday and will serve a one-match ban.

Manager Steve Tilson has no fresh injury concerns, with Osei Sankofa (knee) still short of fitness after a two-month absence.

Tilson could be tempted to shuffle his pack further following the 3-0 loss to Norwich.

Veteran striker Dougie Freedman could be the main beneficiary of any such changes, with the Scot hoping to be handed a starting role.
