The worlds of boxing and UFC are coming together this weekend to witness the biggest fight in the history of combat sport as Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregorgo toe-to-toe on Saturday.

However, the opinions are split among experts and fans about who will emerge victorious in Las Vegas.

Former super-middleweight champion Carl Froch has given his take on the issue and remains confident Mayweather will be the victor at the end of the multi-million dollar clash.

McGregor is known for his trademark left-hand punch that has floored many an opponent in the octagon over the last few years.

But Froch is far from convinced and believes the Irishman does not have the pedigree to hurt his rival, who is famous for his superb defensive techniques and strategies.

Froch told The Sun: “It doesn’t matter how hard you can hit, if you can’t land. I cannot see him landing that shot on Mayweather.

“And I don’t think he is that much of a big puncher, anyway, McGregor. I am really not convinced.

“Conor McGregor is going to want to get him up close and put him in an armlock but he is not going to be allowed to do that.

“This fight is going against everything McGregor instinctively knows so he will be made to box with just his two hands. It is going to be so hard for him.”

The Brit highly doubts the MMA ace can last the entire fight and his best hope to try and last the full 12 rounds.

Although he commended the spirit and courage of McGregor to take on the five-division world champion in his own yard.

“I like the way he walks around and carries himself, his body language,” he continued.

“He is brave and tenacious. He is confident and full of self-belief, It looks like he does not care about other people’s opinions. He does his thing.

“He had the whole build-up to the Nate Diaz rematch and then he got in there and did his thing. It was a close fight that rematch but he got the win and said ‘look who’s back, b****’.

“He talked his way into this fight with Mayweather where he is going to earn what, £100million?

“I admire him, I am impressed with his marketing abilities and his power to promote and sell himself.

“If you go the distance with Floyd Mayweather that is a huge victory because most people don’t see him getting anywhere near that.”

At 29, McGregor is the biggest name in UFC, but, despite being a proven entity in the Octagon, the boxing ring will be a different proposition altogether.

Mayweather returns to the ring for the first time since calling time on his career in 2015 and is putting his unbeaten record of 49-0 on the line against Conor ‘The Notorious’ McGregor.
