Borussia Dortmund find themselves in the all too familiar position of having to replace one of their key players following Ousmane Dembele's departure for Barcelona.

The Blaugrana have completed a deal worth €105 million plus €42 million in add-ons for the French international.

BVB ultimately had to cave on their stance that he wasn't for sale - while they were determined to keep hold of the 20-year-old, his refusal to play for them left them with no choice but to cash in.

Given that Dembele only cost them €15m when he signed from Rennes a year ago, they've done some fantastic business, taking a large proportion of the proceeds of Neymar's world record sale.

Ernesto Valverde was under huge pressure to deliver a marquee signing after the arrivals of Nelson Semedo, Gerard Deulofeu and Paulinho, and he's certainly achieved that.

As for Peter Bosz, his attention will now turn to what to do with that money.

Dortmund have spent the summer worrying about the future of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, yet they are now in the hunt for another goalscorer despite the Gabon striker staying put.

Dembele's replacement

According to the Mirror, that could see the Bundesliga outfit bid for Julian Draxler, who has reportedly been told he is free to leave Paris Saint-Germain.

The Neymar deal - as well as the transfer of Kylian Mbappe from Monaco, which is believed to be imminent - has left PSG needing to balance the books to conform with Financial Fair Play regulations.

There are plenty of incentives for the 23-year-old to return to his native Germany. Dortmund already boast several of his international teammates, including Mario Gotze and Marco Reus.

It's long been anticipated that Draxler would move to the Premier League, with Arsenal and Liverpool having been heavily linked. However, as part of the transfer merry-go-round involving Europe's top clubs this summer, it's easy to see him heading for the Westfalenstadion.
