When it was announced that Kurt Angle would be returning to WWE, the assumption – or hope – was that he’d be coming back in an in-ring role.

Sadly, that hasn’t been the case so far but having him as the general manager of Monday Night RAW means he’s on our television screens every week, which is better than not having him around at all.

IN-RING RETURN

It was speculated that he was going to feature in a massive storyline on the red brand not too long ago, where it was thought that it could see both Stephanie McMahon and Triple H make an on-screen return with the potential of facing The Game down the line.

Instead, it was revealed that Jason Jordan is his son and depending on how fans react to how the storyline develops, we could see something between the pair – including a heel turn.

However, the hope is that Angle is able to go out on his own terms and compete in, at least, one more match before he calls it a day for good and lucky for him, WWE currently boasts one of its most stacked rosters in history.

Unfortunately for him, though, Vince McMahon and the physicals are in the way which determines whether we’ll get another match featuring the Olympic gold medallist.

Speaking with Myles at the WWE 2K18 kickoff event, Angle suggested that his in-ring return could come sooner rather than later.

According to Wrestling Inc, he said: “Well, you can talk to Vince McMahon about that!

“No, but I think it will happen, I’m guessing end of this year, early next year. It ultimately is up to Vince McMahon, he’s gonna make the decision.”

OPTIONS

Before coming to WWE, Angle competed against several big names ranging from Cody Rhodes to Alberto Del Rio, and it sounds like he wants to tick some more names off the list.

Angle has openly suggested several stars he’d like to wrestle at some point in WWE, and did the same when speaking to Myles and even threw in some of the younger stars he’d love to mix it up with, including a certain monster on the Monday night show.

He added: “Well, you know, you want to challenge yourself and get in the ring with Triple H, Brock Lesnar, or even John Cena.

“There’s a lot of great young talent right now. Rusev, Seth Rollins, AJ Styles, Samoa Joe [and] Braun Strowman, love that big guy,

“So, there’s a lot of great talent that I’d love to get my hands on.”

You can probably add the likes of Cesaro there too, and fans definitely wouldn’t complain if Angle got into a major storyline with any of the stars he mentioned.
