Arsenal contract rebel Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain looks set to be sold before the transfer window shuts this week.

The 24-year-old versatile midfielder joined the Gunners from Southampton in 2011 and has racked up 130 Premier League appearances under Arsene Wenger.

However, he has just one year left on his current deal at the Emirates and - according to various reports - has no intention of signing a contract extension.

Star players Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez also have less than 12 months to run on their current deal and could leave the club on a free transfer next summer.

"I think it is an ideal situation," said Wenger recently on his players expiring contracts. "When you are a football player you perform until the last days of your contract.

"I think the performance on the day does not depend on the length of the contract, if that was true we would sign everyone for 20 years and be happy.

"In the future, I think you will see more often players going to the end of their contracts."

Despite his comments, Arsenal have reportedly decided to cash in on Oxlade-Chamberlain before he becomes a free agent next summer.

The young England international has refused to sign a new deal despite reports of an eye-watering £180,000-a-week offer on the table.

Antonio Conte is still hopeful of signing new players and Chelsea have been very heavily linked to the wantaway midfielder.

Liverpool, who have been chasing Virgil van Dijk throughout the summer, are also reportedly interested in Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Valued at £35m, Arsenal have reportedly opted to make him available for sale following his refusal to sign a new contract.

Despite the Gunners good relationship with Chelsea, Oxlade-Chamberlain's Arsenal teammates believe the player would prefer a move to Anfield, as per The Mirror's John Cross.

Perhaps he believes he would receive more playing time in the north-west.

However, moving to Chelsea would mean 'The Ox' wouldn't need to uproot his life in London - plus he could probably earn more money at Stamford Bridge.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will be hosting the Gunners on Sunday afternoon when they face off in the Premier League.

Wenger will be looking for a response following last week's shock 1-0 defeat to Stoke City and will be able to call upon 29-year-old Sanchez.

Linked heavily with a move away, the Chilean forward returned to pre-season training late after featuring in the Confederations Cup in Russia.
