Adam Cole is finally in the WWE.

Earlier this month it was reported that the former ROH World Heavyweight Champion had signed with WWE and would be featured on the NXT brand. As a result of that signing, there were rumors that due to the fact that it was confirmed that he would make his debut at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III last weekend in Brooklyn, New York at the Barclays Center by sitting in the crowd and being shown on camera.

Cole was with Ring of Honor from 2009 - 2017. During his run with the company, he held the World Championship three times and World Television Championship one time. Over the last year, it was expected that Cole would sign with the sports entertainment company and would have happened sooner had the WWE and Ring of Honor legal issues not taken place.

As soon as WWE started signing former ROH stars like Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly, Cole, who the company has had eyes on for years, was imminent as far as coming in.

Instead of him just sitting in the crowd at the NXT special, WWE had much bigger plans for him. As seen at the event, Cole beat down new NXT Champion Drew McIntyre along with Bobby Fish and Kyle O'Reilly after McIntyre's big win over Bobby Roode.

Cole worked the NXT TV tapings in Winter Park, Florida at Full Sail University earlier this week. He is also advertised for the WWE NXT live event in Macon, Georgia on October 19th. McIntyre, Roderick Strong, Johnny Gargano, Aleister Black, Andrade “Cien” Almas and Ember Moon are also advertised to appear at the event.

For those who are wondering why WWE decided to pair Cole up with O’Reilly and Fish, well, we have an update. Dave Meltzer indicated in the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that WWE officials decided to pair the former Ring of Honor stars together due to the fact of Cole’s size as a heel. The long-time pro wrestling reporter noted that the feud between McIntyre and Cole brings an interesting dynamic with a small heel battling a large babyface.
