Arsenal's embarrassing performance away to Liverpool on Sunday afternoon could only aid the 'Wenger out' brigade for another season.

Arsene Wenger, to the disbelief of a significant proportion of the Gunners fan base, signed a new two-year deal over the summer - despite calls for the Frenchman to quit.

But the Gunners hierarchy installed some positivity into the club over the summer with the club-record signing of Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon -  who scored within two minutes of his league debut.

However, with defeat last Monday away to Stoke City and a damning performance on Merseyside, the north Londoner's opening-day 4-3 win over Leicester City has been long forgotten.

It took 17 minutes for Roberto Firmino to head home a nicely curled in cross from Joe Gomez before Sadio Mane's low strike five minutes before half-time doubled the Reds' lead.

And, if it hadn't been evident enough in the first-half, it was clear Klopp's men were set to play the remainder of the game in cruise control.

A lame display from the Arsenal players continued into the second half with Mohamed Salah capitalising on a Hector Bellerin mistake near the half way line to make it three.

And substitute Daniel Sturridge reminded Klopp of his own value to the team with a header to confirm how embarrassing an afternoon it had been for Arsenal.

Neville's scathing Arsenal assessment

But while Liverpool's high goal-scoring affairs with the Gunners continued, former Manchester United defender Gary Neville gave a scathing assessment of Arsenal's performance.

"I'm absolutely fuming watching them. It's ridiculous some of the things you see from them," Neville said on Sky Sports, per the Telegraph.

"I'd stick them all up on the transfer list. Some of these Arsenal players want a move. Who would buy them?"

Cameras caught want-away star man Alexis Sanchez trudge to the bench and sat hiding his face, while fellow contract rebel Mesut Ozil took some time to get to his feet at the final whistle.

Former United star condemns 'lack of respect'

But despite Neville's allegiance to United, the 42-year-old confessed his old rivals deserved to win by an even bigger scoreline.

"I'm not a Liverpool fan but this Arsenal team deserve a battering," Neville added.

"The general attitude, and lack of respect towards the shirt by three or four of them. They (the Arsenal fans) must be livid."

The result saw Arsenal slump to 16th in the table with three points from three games, while Liverpool lifted themselves to second - two points behind league leaders United.
