After watching Liverpool's previous two matches, you’d be forgiven for thinking they didn’t need to make any further signings this summer.

Jurgen Klopp’s side qualified for the Champions League group stages by beating Hoffenheim 4-2 on Wednesday before thrashing Arsenal 4-0 on Sunday.

But Liverpool fans will be very disappointed if there are no more arrivals before the transfer window slams shut on Thursday.

Only Mohamed Salah, Andrew Robertson and Dominic Solanke have arrived at Anfield - with Salah the only one set to play regular first-team football from the three new signings this season.

Regardless of whether Philippe Coutinho leaves of Barcelona or not, the general consensus is that Liverpool need to strengthen in order to compete for Premier League and Champions League glory this season.

But Klopp has seemingly failed in his attempts to sign both of his top two targets - Naby Keita and Virgil van Dijk - but the German boss has refused to rule out comings and goings before now and Thursday night.

"If the transfer window closes tomorrow I am happy with how it is. Obviously this transfer window is different to other windows,” he said.

“Until the 31 August that’s how the business is. A lot of things are really possible. Ins and outs. That’s the way it is.”

Liverpool make official enquiry

And there has already been some developments concerning a potential arrival, it seems.

That’s because, according to the Telegraph, Liverpool have made an enquiry to sign Monaco’s Thomas Lemar for a club record £55 million.

The 21-year-old can play anywhere across the frontline - although plays predominantly on the left - and is extremely highly-rated in France. He's has been linked with a move to Arsenal throughout this summer but Arsene Wenger admitted defeat after refusing to meet Monaco’s asking price.

But just because Liverpool are keen, it doesn’t mean he’s set to join them.

The report states that “Monaco are not willing to sell the 21-year-old French international during this window having already seen Tiemoue Bakayoko, Benjamin Mendy and Bernardo Silva depart and fighting to keep Kylian Mbappe.”

Although Liverpool are willing to make Lemar a club record signing, it looks as though they’re going to find it tough to convince the selling club to allow one of their star players to leave.

It could be a case of too little, too late for Liverpool as far as Lemar is concerned.
