Transfer deadline day promises to be an enthralling one. There are a host of players whose futures are still to be decided and there will be many twists and turns in the final hours of the summer window. Will Alex Oxlade-Chamerberlain sign for Liverpool? Is Alexis Sanchez set to sign for Manchester City? Will Thomas Lemar choose Barcelona or Liverpool?Hundreds of millions have been spent but the chaos isn’t over just yet. There are so many twists in each story that it’s often difficult to keep up, so tomorrow’s 11pm deadline can’t come soon enough for those sick of the confusion.Barcelona are expected to use the Neymar player to bring in another player but it might not be Philippe Coutinho. The Blaugrana have made three bids for the Brazilian this summer but have been knocked back every single time. Despite Barça’s interest and Coutinho’s desire to leave, Liverpool just won’t sell.Barcelona, finally realising the message, have identified three alternatives to Coutinho, according to Mundo Deportivo - Antoine Griezmann, Paulo Dybala and Thomas Lemar.AS Monaco’s Lemar has also been linked with Liverpool, with L’Equipe claiming this week that the Reds have submitted a €72 million bid for the 21-year-old.According to Spanish outlet Sport, Barcelona have accelerated their pursuit of Lemar, and one of the reasons for their interest has left Liverpool fans in disbelief.

Why Liverpool have gone for Lemar

As well as the need to improve the squad, Barcelona want to sign Lemar just to block Liverpool from doing so after the Reds refused to sell Coutinho.

Talk about being petulant. So Barcelona are willing to part way with €80m just to spite a club that aren’t even in the same league as they are? Wow.

It sounds ridiculous but then again Barcelona have just paid £36m for Paulinho.

Liverpool fans destroy Barcelona

Needless to say Liverpool fans are mocking Barcelona on Twitter.

Lemar is understood to be on Liverpool’s radar but he is not a priority according to ESPN.

The Reds understand how difficult it will be to secure a deal for the Monaco winger before Thursday’s deadline and so they’re instead prepared to go all out to sign Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Arsenal agreed to sell the 24-year-old to Chelsea but Oxlade-Chamberlain has rejected the move because he wants to play for Liverpool, where he believes Jurgen Klopp will deploy him in his preferred central position.
