Midfielder Jaime Peters has signed a new contract which will keep him at Ipswich until June 2013.

The 22-year-old came to Portman Road in 2005 and his current deal was due to expire this summer. However, the Canada international is delighted to have extended his stay.

"It's a nice Christmas present and I'm obviously very pleased to be given the chance to stay," Peters told the club's official website. "I think I have progressed as a player this season and I'm enjoying playing under the manager."

He added: "I've had my ups and downs here but Ipswich is a great club and I'm pleased with the way things have gone for me this season in terms of being involved with the first team."
