David McGoldrick will be hoping his match-winning goal at Swansea will be enough to keep his place in the Nottingham Forest line-up against Preston.

The summer signing netted for only the third time this season last weekend as the Reds stretched their unbeaten league run to 13 matches with a 1-0 victory at the Liberty Stadium.

Dexter Blackstock and Robert Earnshaw are pushing for recalls after they were dropped to the bench in south Wales.

Boss Billy Davies has no new injury problems as he prepares to face the club he guided to the Championship play-offs in 2005 and 2006. Defender Julian Bennett (knee) and midfielder Guy Moussi (ankle) remain out.

Skipper Paul McKenna will face his former club for the first time since ending a 12-year spell at Deepdale by joining the Reds in the summer.

Preston boss Alan Irvine is hoping defender Billy Jones will be passed fit.

The right-back limped out of the recent goalless draw against Derby after sustaining an ankle injury during the second half.

He subsequently missed last weekend`s 2-0 home win over Plymouth when North End ended a dismal seven-match winless streak in the Championship.

Eddie Nolan deputised against the Pilgrims and could do so again if Jones remains sidelined, although Irvine said: "Billy has a chance of making it."

French centre-back Youl Mawene remains sidelined until the new year after damaging knee ligaments in the recent home defeat against Newcastle.

Midfielder Barry Nicholson is also out until 2010 as he recovers from a broken leg.
