Cheltenham duo Lee Ridley and Michael Townsend will be hoping to return to the side for the visit of Burton.

The pair, who have been struggling with calf injuries, came through the midweek 3-1 friendly win over Nottingham Forest unscathed and will be hoping to slot back into the defence.

Captain Shane Duff is continuing his rehabilitation from an Achilles injury with more fitness work in the gym but is still some way away from a return to first-team action.

Caretaker manager John Schofield, who has already revealed his desire to take the job on full time, remains in charge at Whaddon Road.

The deadline for applications is on Friday at 5pm, with a decision expected to be made before the end of December.

Club captain Darren Stride and leading scorer Greg Pearson have given Burton boss Paul Peschisolido an injury scare ahead of the trip.

Both players pulled up in training with hamstring injuries this week and Peschisolido is worried he might have to make unwanted changes to his starting line-up at Whaddon Road.

Long-serving defender Stride kept his place after team skipper Guy Branston was ruled out through suspension while Pearson scored Albion's first Football League hat-trick in the 6-1 demolition of Aldershot last weekend.

"It's not good news because they've both tweaked hamstrings which is the last thing we want after the way we've been playing," said Peschisolido, whose side have taken four points from their last two matches to halt a three-game losing streak since Stride and Pearson were recalled.

"It will be a disappointment if either player misses the game. We are just keeping our fingers crossed and hoping both injuries clear up by Saturday."
