Strachan gets Boro ready for battle

Manager Gordon Strachan insists Middlesbrough must battle their way through a difficult time after their miserable run continued with a 2-0 defeat at Newcastle.

Goals from Marlon Harewood and Shola Ameobi earned the Magpies the points and it means Boro have won just once in nine games since Strachan replaced Gareth Southgate at the Riverside Stadium.

Strachan said: "As a manager you get some horrible periods in your life and this is one of them. As a player you can try as hard as you want but you need to deal with it, you need to get on with it."
