Northampton manager Ian Sampson remains confident that the Boxing Day clash with Dagenham & Redbridge will go ahead.

The Cobblers saw their trip to Darlington called off last weekend and their Sixfields home has also been under snow for the last few days.

"We are confident that the game will be on," Sampson said. "The pitch here is very soft at the moment underneath a blanket of snow. We want to keep that covering in place to keep the pitch warm as long as possible."

He added: "I am sure there won't be a problem at all."
