Barnsley will be without on-loan defenders Ryan Shotton and Carl Dickinson for the home clash with Middlesbrough.

The Stoke pair have reached the end of their respective three-month loan spells with the Tykes and will return to the Britannia Stadium.

Manager Mark Robins is expected to recall fit-again skipper Stephen Foster and Rob Kozluk to his starting line-up against Boro to fill the gaps.

Robins, who has no other injury or suspension problems, must decide who to start with in attack.

Andy Gray partnered Daniel Bogdanovic in the draw at Crystal Palace last time out - Boxing Day's clash at Preston was postponed - but Jon Macken and Iain Hume are both hoping for recalls.

Barnsley, who now have two games in hand on their rivals, are unbeaten in their last seven league matches.

Middlesbrough face problems in attack. Leroy Lita starts a three-match ban following his dismissal in the 3-0 Boxing Day win against Scunthorpe, while Dave Kitson, whose loan expires on Tuesday, missed that game with a stomach bug and is again doubtful.

Jeremie Aliadiere started against the Iron and scored following a lengthy absence through injury and he should keep his place.

Defender Emanuel Pogagtetz looks set for a spell on the sidelines with a hamstring problem he sustained in the second half of Saturday`s clash.

Danny Coyne should keep his place in goal after impressing in place of Brad Jones, while Isaiah Osbourne is available after extending his loan from Aston Villa.

Marcus Bent`s loan deal also expires following the Tykes game.
