Brentford will be without Charlie MacDonald for the visit of high-flying Charlton.

The Bees' top scorer is suspended against his former club after being sent off during the bad-tempered 1-0 Boxing Day win at Gillingham.

Experienced striker Carl Cort could earn a recall alongside Ben Strevens, or winger Myles Weston could move forward into attack with Tottenham loanee John Bostock returning to the starting line-up.

On-loan Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny missed out at the Priesfield Stadium with a knock and will be checked over.

Regular keeper Nikki Bull is still recovering from a shoulder operation so Lewis Price, who deputised impressively on Saturday, is on stand-by again.

Defenders Ryan Dickson, James Wilson and Mark Phillips remain injury doubts.

Charlton have a host of injuries and suspensions to deal with.

Defender Sam Sodje starts a four-match ban after being shown his second red card of the season during the 2-2 Boxing Day draw with Swindon, and striker Deon Burton sits out a one-game ban after also seeing red late on.

With Christian Dailly struggling with illness, Kelly Youga out with a knee injury and Frazer Richardson still missing with hamstring trouble, boss Phil Parkinson is desperately short at the back.

Up front, David Mooney is sidelined with a knee injury but Parkinson can call on Akpo Sodje, Chris Dickson, Leon McKenzie or Izale McLeod.

Parkinson is also boosted by the return of winger Lloyd Sam from his one-match ban.
