Luke Varney is back in training with Derby but manager Nigel Clough admits his future remains undecided.

Clough believes the striker, who has made just 14 appearances for the Rams, could be destined for another return to Sheffield Wednesday, following two loan spells at Hillsborough this year.

"Luke's loan is up and he is back with us at the moment, although he is suspended for Saturday," he told the club's official website.

"We are still in discussions with Sheffield Wednesday about what they want to do with Luke in terms of extending the loan or a permanent deal, so at the moment it is a case of seeing what comes up in the next few weeks."

The former Crewe forward will be suspended for Derby's FA Cup Third round tie at Millwall on Saturday after picking up five cautions whilst on loan with Wednesday.

Varney joined the Rams just over a year ago but joined the Owls on loan for the latter part of last season and then returned to Hillsborough in August.
