Weather takes its toll once more

The continuing cold snap has already taken its toll on the weekend's sporting programme.

There was no new year change in fortune for Coca-Cola League Two basement boys Darlington as their match against Port Vale, scheduled for Saturday, was called off.

The Quakers, who are 14 points adrift of safety, have not played a match since December 12.

Two of Friday's Blue Square Premier contests - Chester v Kidderminster and Altrincham v Wrexham - also fell victim to frozen pitches, while the Scottish Football League programme has again been decimated.

All five Second Division matches scheduled for Saturday have been postponed, along with Queen of the South v Ayr in the First Division and three Third Division clashes.
