After the demo release and lots of different trailers, EA Sports’ FIFA 18 will finally hit shelves all over the globe in a matter of days.

The latest instalment of the popular video game series comes out on Friday, as gamers prepare for another year of Ultimate Team, Career Mode and so much more.

Ahead of FIFA 18’s launch, a number of footballers across Europe’s top leagues have been tasked with trying to predict what their new ratings would and should be.

Some players who were asked to guess their stats are pretty knowledgeable when it comes to how FIFA works, whilst others are, well, less educated, shall we say.

Player predictions vs. actual ratings

With that in mind, we’ve decided to take a look at what some top stars rated themselves and compare it to their actual, official rating in the new game.

Let’s start with the five players (and one “icon”) who predicted their six main statistics (pace, shooting, passing, dribbling, defending and physicality) as well as their overall rating.

David Luiz (Chelsea)

Prediction: (85 overall) 78 pace, 80 shot, 80 pass, 70 dribbling, 83 defending, 78 physicality.
Actual stats: (86 overall) 70 pace, 64 shot, 74 pass, 71 dribbling, 84 defending, 81 physicality.

Kyle Walker (Man City)

Prediction: (83/84 overall) 92 pace, 73 shot, 78 pass, 89 dribbling, 80 defending, 79 physicality.
Actual stats: (83 overall) 90 pace, 63 shot, 73 pass, 76 dribbling, 80 defending, 81 physicality.

Eden Hazard (Chelsea)

Actual stats: (90 overall) 90 pace, 82 shot, 84 pass, 92 dribbling, 32 defending, 66 physicality.

Andreas Christensen (Chelsea)

Prediction: (81/82 overall) 75 pace, 45 shot, 75 pass, 68 dribbling, 86 defending, 72 physicality.
Actual stats: (81 overall) 64 pace, 31 shot, 62 pass, 67 dribbling, 84 defending, 69 physicality.

Michy Batshuayi (Chelsea)

Prediction: (84/85 overall) 85 pace, 82 shot, 78 pass, 70 defending.
Actual stats: (80 overall) 79 pace, 80 shot, 59 pass, 77 dribbling, 27 defending, 74 physicality.

Robert Pires (Icon)

As an icon, Robert Pires has three different cards in FIFA 18. Below are the ex-France winger’s guesses for his 91-rated “Arsenal years” version.

Prediction: 80 pace, 90 shot, 85 pass, 90 dribbling, 50 defending, 80 physicality.
Actual stats: 88 pace, 82 shot, 88 pass, 89 dribbling, 40 defending, 64 physicality.

Cristiano, Lewandowski, and many more

Now onto what the load of world-class stars said when trying to predict their overall ratings in a brilliant EA Sports video posted earlier this month, from Adrien Rabiot to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Arjen Robben (Bayern)

Prediction: “In FIFA 18, my rating should be 88.”
Actual rating: 88

Angel di Maria (Paris)

Prediction: “93?” (Di Maria is going to need a lot of special items to reach 93!).
Actual rating: 84

Mats Hummels (Bayern)

Prediction: “I should have at least one more than FIFA 17 (Hummels’ FIFA 17 rating was 87). And my dribbling skills are far too low!” (His FIFA 17 dribbling score was 71).

Actual rating: 88, and the German’s dribbling in FIFA 18 is 72.

Antoine Griezmann (Atletico)

Prediction: “Can I score higher than 99?” the talented French forward hilariously asked.
Actual rating: 88

Thomas Muller (Bayern)

Prediction: “I should be at least 90. I’ve worked hard during the summer. I really have!”
Actual rating: 86

Dele Alli (Tottenham)

Prediction: “86 or 85. Nowhere lower though.”
Actual rating: 84

Robert Lewandowski (Bayern)

Prediction: “At least 90.”
Actual rating: 91

Adrien Rabiot (Paris)

Prediction: “I should get 80.”
Actual rating: 80

Arturo Vidal (Bayern)

Prediction: “95.” (The Chilean can’t be serious!)
Actual rating: 87

Cristiano Ronaldo (Real)

Prediction: “I’d prefer 100,” the reigning World Player of the Year jokingly claimed.
Actual rating: 94
