Nobody was more ambitious in the summer transfer window than Paris Saint-Germain.

The French club, whose four-year stranglehold on the Ligue 1 title was brought to an end by AS Monaco, made Neymar the world’s most expensive player when they paid Barcelona £198 million for the Brazilian.

But they were not done there.

One way to overcome your rivals is to poach their best players and PSG did just that by signing Kylian Mbappe from Monaco on a temporary loan move that will become permanent next year.

Neymar was voted the fifth best player in the world at the 2016 Ballon d’Or awards while Mbappe is a rising superstar.

So it’s clear that the French club have set their sights on not just the Ligue 1 title but winning the Champions League, too.

Neymar’s move to the Parc des Princes was a huge shock. He left Barcelona, where he had won two La Liga titles and the Champions League, for a club that hasn’t reached the semi-finals of the prestige European competition since 1995.

Everyone has their theory as to why the forward decided to leave the Camp Nou, but the general consensus is that he wanted to leave Lionel Messi’s shadow and boost his chances of winning the Ballon d’Or, as well as increase his wages.

Can you sign Neymar for Real Madrid in FIFA 18?

Neymar obviously plans to stay in France for some time, but a YouTuber has attempted to imagine what would happen if Real Madrid suddenly pursued the Brazil international.

‘BCHDGaming’ is unable to approach Neymar in January 2018, with a message appearing that reads: “The club recently acquired the player so they aren’t looking to negotiate his leave.”

That’s the sort of response you’d expect from PSG in real life.

He has to wait until January 2019 - so after the 2018 summer window - for PSG to agree to hold talks.

PSG boss Unai Emery rejects his offer of £150m but says the Ligue 1 club will agree to sell for £208.1m.

This includes a sell-on clause of five per cent, which BCHDGaming eventually agrees to.

Neymar goes to sign a five-year contract worth £330,800-per-week and includes a signing bonus of £15,600,022, the maximum that can be offered.

The forward also has a £300m release clause.
