Macclesfield boss Keith Alexander could hand new recruit Craig Lindfield a debut for the home clash with Morecambe.

Alexander has moved to strengthen his attacking resources by signing the former Liverpool trainee on a short-term contract.

Fellow frontman Ricky Sappleton's loan from Leicester has expired but Alexander is hoping to extend it so he can feature against the Shrimps.

Alexander said: "Hopefully a deal can be struck and he'll be available to us for the Morecambe game."

Sappleton's availability would boost a Silkmen side missing the services of midfielder Hamza Bencherif.

The Algerian suffered a fractured ankle in the 3-0 defeat at Rochdale on December 5 and he is unlikely to feature again before the end of the campaign.

Morecambe boss Sammy McIlroy has been dealt a double suspension blow.

Striker Garry Hunter and defender Laurence Wilson must serve one-match bans after picking up their fifth bookings of the season in Monday's 4-1 defeat at Rochdale.

Phil Jevons (back) and Paul Mullin (knee ligaments) are also rated as doubtful after suffering knocks in last weekend's home defeat against Accrington.

Neil Wainwright was also forced to leave the field against Accrington and may be out for the season after picking up an Achilles injury.

Midfielder Ian Craney faces an operation next week on an ankle injury that will leave him unavailable until the latter stages of the campaign.

Striker Michael Twiss needed three stitches to a cut above his eye on Monday but should be available.
