After a week of talking about who will take penalties at Paris Saint-Germain, everyone at the club would have been desperate to get back to playing football. The Edinson Cavani and Neymar saga has rumbled on after the strikers argued who would take set-pieces during their 2-0 victory over Lyon last week.Numerous reports emerged in the subsequent days with claims suggesting they almost came to blows in the dressing room after the game. There is also a belief that Neymar unfollowed Cavani on both Twitter and Instagram. It all got a bit childish. But when it all settled down, Emery revealed that Cavani would remain as the club’s penalty taker, while Neymar missed the clash against Montpellier with a foot injury.A convincing win would have put the petty argument to bed once and for all.But a Neymar-less PSG failed to score as they drew 0-0 with Montpellier on Saturday afternoon. And even more reports have emerged on Monday morning about the situation at the Parc des Princes.

The most significant comes from El Pais - a Spanish daily newspaper.

They claim that PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi attempted to step in and help decide who takes penalties for the club. And it’s believed he offered Cavani a crazy €1 million to hand over penalties duties to Neymar.

Cavani's answer?

“I’m not interested in money.”

With Cavani refusing to give up spot-kicks, Al-Khelaifi then went to Neymar in an attempt to make him forget about taking penalties.

But when they informed him that Cavani wouldn’t budge, “Neymar’s reaction was angry.”

The Brazilian left Barcelona to become the King of Paris and wants to be the star in Emery’s side.

Part of that agreement means that he takes penalties and free-kick whenever he wishes. But it seems he may have to settle for second-best with Cavani - who scored 49 goals in 50 matches last season - fighting back.

While we weren’t able to see the relationship between Cavani and Neymar this weekend as PSG stumbled to a draw, we eagerly wait for when they team-up once again for the Ligue 1 club.

One thing we know, it looks as though it’ll be Cavani taking penalties.
