It’s the feud that doesn’t seem like going away anytime soon.Neymar and Edinson Cavani’s rift, initiated when they argued over a penalty in Paris Saint-Germain’s win over Lyon earlier in the month, has threatened to cause a divide in the PSG camp.It was reported by El Pais that PSG had offered Cavani a €1 million payment to surrender penalty duties to Neymar, with the Uruguayan saying no.But that was later denied by the Ligue 1 club.Still, Unai Emery knows that he needs to solve this alarming dispute sooner rather than later.

Emery: 'There needs to be a gentlemen's agreement'

The PSG boss is hoping for his two stars to reach a gentlemen’s agreement over who takes penalties.

“Penalties will be taken by a couple of players,” Emery said, per the Independent. “One is Edinson and the other is Neymar.

“There needs to be a gentlemen's agreement on the pitch when it comes to taking spot kicks.

“Apart from that, we will have to arrange things internally for when we get penalties because I believe that both are capable of converting them and I want them to alternate with this exercise.”

Cavani didn't appear to be at Thiago Silva's party

Emery sounds as if the situation is under control but it would appear that might not be the case.

On Tuesday, Kylian Mbappe posted an image from Thiago Silva’s 33rd birthday party, and fans immediately noticed that Cavani was nowhere to be seen.

It’s unclear yet why the Uruguayan was absent but, just days after his fallout with Neymar, it doesn’t look too good.

Here’s how Twitter reacted.

It could be nothing, or it could be a sign that Cavani has been affected by recent events at PSG.

Fans noticed that Layvin Kurzawa and Thomas Meunier were also absent.

Dani Alves appears to have taken sides

Dani Alves appeared to take Neymar’s side when he handed his compatriot the ball over Cavani when PSG won a free-kick against Lyon.

The right-back denied favouring Neymar though, claiming Neymar took the ball from him.

“At that point I wanted to take responsibility, but then Ney took the ball and ended up shooting,” Alves said, per Goal

“I took the ball with the aim of shooting, but unfortunately I couldn't.”

It certainly didn’t look that way. And now Cavani appears to be slightly ostracised from the squad.
