Striker Anthony Elding has had his contract with Crewe terminated by mutual consent.

The former Stockport and Leeds forward, 27, is free to look for another club and has been linked with a surprise move to Hungarian side Ferencvaros, who are managed by former Derby, Everton and Blackburn defender Craig Short.

A statement on Crewe's official website read: "The striker and the club have agreed to mutually terminate his contract with immediate affect."

The statement added: "Everyone at Crewe Alexandra would like to thank Anthony for everything during his time here, and wish him all the best for his future career."

Crewe paid Leeds in the region of £180,000 for Elding in the summer of 2008 but after only one goal in 14 league starts he was loaned to Lincoln last season.

He joined Kettering on loan at the start of November and his stint at the Blue Square Premier club ended on Sunday.
