Cristiano Ronaldo just hasn't looked himself this season.

The Real Madrid star still looks certain to collect his fifth Ballon d'Or title this year, but has been overshadowed by Lionel Messi so far in 2017-18. Ronaldo is yet to score in La Liga, while his Argentine rival already boasts nine league strikes.

The Portuguese welcomed the new campaign with a five-match ban after pushing the referee in the Spanish Super Cup before a performance against Real Betis that was so poor it broke records.

Nevertheless, his showing against Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League suggested the 32-year-old is returning to his very best. Ronaldo scored a brace alongside Gareth Bale's stunning volley as Los Blancos claimed an impressive scalp away from home.

And with Ronaldo publicly flirting with the idea of a contract extension at the Bernabeu, it seems his early season blip will remain just that.

He certainly won't suffer the same fate as his compatriots Fabio Coentrao and Pepe who no longer reside with the European champions.

The latter, after an anomalously poor season, moved to Turkey and Besiktas this summer.

Pepe was very close to Ronaldo and the pair romped their way to the European Championship title in 2016. And it seems some supporters are keen for the two to reunite on a club level, but not with Real Madrid.

The 32-year-old started a live video on his Instagram page and was promptly asked by a fan whether he would sign for Besiktas, naturally.

As hilarious as Ronaldo moving to the Turkish league would be, though, the Portuguese shot down the 'rumours' with a brilliant comment. Check out the video below:

Very classy - CR7 couldn't help but commend the performances of Pepe and Ricardo Quaresma for their efforts at Besiktas.

Both Portuguese stars turned out for the Kara Kartallar in their 2-0 victory over RB Leipzig on European duties and Besiktas sit just three points from the summit of the Super Lig table.

It's fair to say Ronaldo would help them close the gap to Galatasaray, mind.
