Gamers across the UK will be swarming local supermarkets at midnight tonight to get their hands on the highly-anticipated FIFA 18.

The latest edition of the franchise is due to be released tomorrow (Friday 29 September), but as with every year there will be a midnight launch.

What fans can expect is a host of changes - or improvements, rather - to the gameplay, career mode, Ultimate Team and player ratings.

It's the player ratings that FIFA fanatics are usually most interested in and so, EA Sports have been slowly revealing them over the course of the past few weeks.

Like last year, cover star Cristiano Ronaldo comes out on top with a huge 94 rating, while Lionel Messi is second with 93.

Luis Suarez and Neymar are then third and fourth respectively with 92 ratings and Robert Lewandowski (91) completes the top five.

Only one Premier League player features in the top 10 - Eden Hazard (90) - to demonstrate just how dominant Europe's other leagues are on FIFA.

Indeed, only Kevin de Bruyne, Sergio Aguero and Alexis Sanchez (all 89) make the top 20 thereafter.

It's Manchester City's players who have been discovering their ratings this week, with the Citizens posting a video on YouTube of all their reactions.

Kyle Walker, for example, reacted to his 83-rated Ultimate Team card by moaning about teammates Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane having higher pace than him.

"I'm definitely quicker than him (Sane) and I'm quicker than him (Sterling), so they've got that wrong already," Walker said.

"Let's do a 100m sprint for charity, us three. I guarantee I will win."

Sane responded to Walker's claim by saying: "Faster than me? Maybe if we have to run for a year then he's faster than me."

However, the funniest moment in the video happens at 2:35 when Benjamin Mendy finds out he's been given an overall rating of 78 on FIFA 18.

Mendy blames his low rating on the fact he's currently on crutches, but when Sergio Aguero walks over and sees it, he bursts into laughter and just says: "78!" Check it out below.

AGUERO MOCKS MENDY OVER FIFA 18 RATING

Once he stops laughing, Aguero attempts to console Mendy by saying he should be rated higher than 78: "No, maybe 84?"

Not that Aguero cares, he's the Premier League's highest-rated striker FIFA 18.
