A popular tag team is rumored to break up soon.

That tag team is The Hype Bros, which consists of Zack Ryder and Mojo Rawley. WWE announced on this week’s episode of SmackDown Live in Denver, CO at the Pepsi Center on the USA Network that Chad Gable and Shelton Benjamin would take on Ryder and Rawley in a tag team match on the Hell in a Cell Kickoff show.

According to CageSide Seats, this event is rumored to be where The Hype Bros will finally break up. As seen over the last few weeks on television, WWE has been teasing the split of the tag team.

The tag team has some history together and found success during their time as a team. In June 2015, Ryder debuted in NXT and forming an alliance with Rawley. On the October 16 edition of NXT, The Hype Bros competed in a match for the NXT Tag Team Championship but failed to win the titles.

They were placed on the SmackDown Live brand as part of the 2016 WWE Draft. At the Battleground PPV of that year, Rawley Ryder from a post-match beating by WWE United States Champion Rusev.

This moment officially uniting the Hype Bros on the main roster. Fast forward to the December 13 episode of SmackDown of that same year, The Hype Bros competed in a tag-team battle royal to determine the #1 contenders for the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship.

Although Rawley was eliminated, Ryder would go on to win the battle royal for his team and become the #1 contenders. However, this spelled the end of the success for the tag team.

During the match, Ryder injured his knee and was seen using crutches backstage. It was later announced that Ryder would be out of action for 4–9 months due to an injury. Ryder returned on the June 13 edition of SmackDown by reuniting with Rawley.

The Hell in a Cell pay-per-view event takes place on October 8th, 2017 in Detroit, Michigan at the Little Caesars Arena and will air on the WWE Network and some traditional pay-per-view outlets. This will be an exclusive SmackDown Live brand event. Here is the final card:
