Just in case you needed a friendly reminder as to why many call Demetrious Johnson the greatest mixed martial artist of all time, he showcased his dominance yet again on Saturday night. In the co-main event of UFC 216 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Mighty Mouse was taken five rounds by Ray Borg but never looked in serious trouble on his way to retaining the UFC flyweight championship, a month after their fight was originally scheduled to take place.

MIGHTY MOUSE

The delay certainly worked in Mighty Mouse's favour, as he broke Anderson Silva's record for the most consecutive title defences in UFC history, stretching that number to 11 and if you know Johnson, you know he doesn't do things by halves.

The reaction on social media has said it all, as he pulled out with a finish you'd see only in video games or Hollywood action blockbusters, taking the Tazmexican Devil's back and looked to land a vicious suplex.

However, as you'll be able to see in the video below, he managed to lock in an armbar in mid-air to send the fans and the commentators wild, giving the 24-year-old no choice but to submit to the greatest mixed martial artist in UFC history, a statement UFC president Dana White echoed following Johnson's victory.

Johnson ragdolled Borg throughout the five rounds before the finish, and revealed that he knew he was going to lock in the suplex to armbar.

SUPLEX TO ARMBAR

Speaking after his win, Mighty Mouse said: "Ray Borg was running his mouth saying my grappling game was garbage.

“I was just playing around, playing, looking at [announcer Daniel Cormier], and all that stuff, and I’ve hit that suplex to armbar so many times in the gym. And I knew I was going to get it.

"I’m not in the business to get hit and take concussions. S**t’s way overrated. I’m in the business of getting in here, making a fool of you, getting you in the air like a bag of potatoes.”

He certainly made Borg look like a fool, despite his eagerness to get back in the fight and proved to be tough but every time he tried to assert his dominance in the fight, it ended badly as he was vastly outworked and outstruck by Johnson.

This is a finish the MMA world is going to be talking about for quite some time.
