Pools hammered by deadly Dons: Match Review

Hartlepool suffered their biggest home league defeat since May 1994 as MK Dons eased to a 5-0 win at Victoria Park.

Paul Ince's side never looked back after taking a fourth-minute lead through Jermaine Easter, who beat the offside trap before sliding a cool finish under goalkeeper Scott Flinders from 10 yards.

Pools only mustered one meaningful chance, which came when Ritchie Jones headed wide after 15 minutes.

The Dons doubled their lead seven minutes later, Gary Liddle knocking the ball into his own net after Luke Chadwick's cross from the right had caused havoc.

The outstanding Chadwick then hit the post with an open goal to aim for following a mix-up between Flinders and Antony Sweeney.

But the visitors did add a third nine minutes after the break when Peter Leven won a challenge on the edge of the area and exchanged passes with Chadwick before firing home.

Substitute Sam Baldock had only been on the pitch for two minutes when he dinked the ball over Flinders for the Dons' fourth goal in the 77th minute.

And five minutes later Jason Puncheon cracked a low drive into the corner of the net to complete the rout.
