Shrewsbury were denied their third successive away win as 10-man Burton battled back to earn a 1-1 draw.

The hosts trailed to a Dave Hibbert goal and then had skipper Guy Branston sent off, but fought back to grab a second-half equaliser through Greg Pearson.

Town went ahead when Hibbert headed his 13th goal of the campaign from eight yards after the hosts failed to deal with a Craig Disley corner in the 27th minute.

A fine save by Artur Krysiak denied Hibbert a second before Burton were reduced to 10 men when Branston was sent off for the second time this season.

The defender picked up two yellow cards in the space of three minutes for fouls on Disley and Paul Murray.

But the home side fought valiantly for the equaliser, with Russell Penn hitting a post and David Button getting his fingertips to a John McGrath shot.

They got their reward when Pearson latched onto a pass from Jacques Maghoma to fire home the equaliser from eight yards in the 76th minute.
