Last night's (Sun. October 8, 2017) WWE Hell In A Cell pay-per-view (PPV) saw a very unexpected heel turn take place in the main event of the evening.Former WWE Universal Champion and United States Champion Kevin Owens went one-on-one with SmackDown Live Commissioner Shane McMahon inside Hell In A Cell to settle their differences once and for all. It all started back at WWE SummerSlam when McMahon served as Special Guest Referee for Owens and AJ Styles' United States Championship match, which "KO" would lose. Instead of accepting the loss Owens decided to pin the defeat on McMahon's poor refereeing. After a few more run-ins with Shane on WWE TV things really got to a boiling point when Owens began began mentioning McMahon's kids, sparking an attack from "Shane O'Mac" that resulted in his immediate suspension."The Chairman Of The Board" Vince McMahon would return to SmackDown Live to confront Owens after he threatened to sue and take over WWE. McMahon made a match between Shane and Owens inside Hell In A Cell, which Owens accepted. Before the end of the segment, however, Owens proceeded to attack Vince and even bust him open. This would lead to several more physical confrontations between Shane and Owens before Hell In A Cell last night. The match started off outside the cell as Shane took to fight right to Owens in the opening bell. After the pair found their way back inside the cage Shane soon found some bolt cutters and busted open the cell door. The match then made its way to the top of the cell where a back-and-forth ensued before Owens was thrown down onto an announce table from halfway down the cell. Instead of taking advantage and pinning Owens, Shane went to the top of the cell in attempt to recreate his his famous WrestleMania 32 spot from the top of the cage.Right before McMahon could land on the big elbow, however, Owens former best friend-turned rival Sami Zayn emerged to save "KO" and move him out of the way - leaving Shane to crash himself into the announce table and get pinned for the loss.It was quite the shocking heel turn for the former NXT Champ, and WWE fans took to Twitter to sound off on what transpired with mixed reactions:
