Doncaster have turned down a bid from League One side Southampton for skipper Brian Stock.

Southampton put in an offer for the 28-year-old Wales international on Saturday evening, but Saints manager Alan Pardew has since confirmed they will not be following up their interest after both clubs had failed to agree a fee.

Pardew, who will be without Dean Hammond for two weeks after the Saints midfielder sustained an Achilles injury in Saturday's draw at Millwall, was keen to offer Winchester-born Stock a return to the south coast.

Stock, who followed Rovers manager Sean O'Driscoll to Doncaster from Bournemouth in January 2007 after an initial loan spell, made his first start since September in the weekend win over Watford after recovering from ankle surgery.
