Nutmegging an opponent is the best possible way to humiliate them.

The simple act of knocking the ball through a player’s legs is better than any skill and, more often than not, leaves the victim with his head in his hands.

But some nutmegs are better than others.

And one of the most humiliating nutmegs ever came on March 18, 2015.

It was during a Champions League clash between Barcelona and Manchester City and it involved Lionel Messi and James Milner.

Remember it?

If not, here’s a little reminder.

Watch: Messi's nutmeg on Milner

Yes, Messi nutmegged Milner, leaving him on his backside.

And Pep Guardiola’s reaction in the stands said it all.

How embarrassing.

Now, you couldn’t blame Milner for never wanting to recall this moment for the rest of his career. He was embarrassed on the biggest stage of them all and everyone was laughing at him.

We've certainly never heard Milner speak about that night since. Well, until now.

Milner was picking his Ultimate Xi and, rather unsurprisingly, picked Messi.

And Milner bravely allowed himself to cast his mind back to that night at the Camp Nou.

“Messi has to be in there,” Milner said.

“I’ve played against against him a few of times in the Champions League and most people probably remember the nutmeg on myself.

“I won’t be the first and I won’t be the last who got megged by him.”

While Milner’s right there, not every one of Messi’s nutmeg is quite so humiliating.

Milner will just be hoping his Liverpool side don't get drawn against Messi's Barcelona in the Champions League this season. If they do, don't be surprised to see Milner keeping his legs closed the entire bench - even if he's only on the bench.
