Liverpool vs Manchester United at Anfield on a Saturday afternoon - it doesn't get much better than that in the Premier League.

With so much riding on the game, there are suggestions this could be one of the most important fixtures between the two rivals in recent memory.

While United are cruising at the top of the table and looking like strong title contenders, Liverpool are desperate for all three points to try and launch their own challenge.

It's a game that's sure to entertain given the clubs' respective playing styles.

As always, Jurgen Klopp will line up his side to press United and catch them on the counter attack with their pace and creativity down the flanks.

Jose Mourinho may well opt for the same tactic but from a deeper position, and with Romelu Lukaku up front, he has someone who can both hold up the ball or dart in behind the defence.

Recent history tells us that impetus is with United, who have won nine of their last 15 matches with Liverpool in all competitions.

The Red Devils also have the superior all-time record over their rivals, winning 87 of their 226 games against each other.

But Liverpool are unbeaten against United in the last two games at Anfield, which suggests anything can happen in Saturday's early kick-off.

Both sets of players will be raring to go and even a few United legends seem pumped by the occasion.

Gary Neville, who will either be commentating or analysing the game for Sky Sports, posted on Instagram this morning to express his excitement.

Rio Ferdinand has now taken to social media ahead of Liverpool vs Man Utd and it's safe to say he's absolutely buzzing for it.

Back in 2006, Ferdinand scored a last-minute header at Old Trafford to give United a 1-0 win and he's made sure to remind everyone of that moment on Twitter.

A video of his winner has been doing the rounds this morning (see below).

To which Ferdinand responded with a hilarious tweet. He wrote: "You don't stop them...... cross from Giggsy... on ya head son! Oioioiiii #Mufc."

The former centre-back posted another tweet a few hours earlier giving his score prediction: 1-1.
