Toon still chasing Forest defender

Published Add your comment

Newcastle manager Chris Hughton has not given up hope of signing Nottingham Forest defender James Perch.

The Championship leaders had what Forest boss Billy Davies called a "derisory" bid for the player turned down this week. Davies holds the 24-year-old in high regard and insists he will not be leaving the City Ground.

Hughton told Sky Sports News: "The situation with that is the club have made an official offer for him. It was done through the correct channels and we will see what happens."
