Titus O'Neil had one of the most controversial suspension in WWE history last year, and he still doesn't really understand why it happened.

Following Daniel Bryan's retirement ceremony on an episode of Monday Night RAW, in which the entire locker room was on the entrance ramp to show support for Bryan, the guys began to cycle back into the backstage area. O'Neil, who was standing near Vince McMahon, stuck out his hand in front of McMahon's chest and said "Ladies first."

McMahon was visibly upset and yelled before shoving O'Neil away from him. Shortly after this O'Neil was given a 90 day suspension for the incident. It was later reduced to 60 days after all the mainstream attention the suspension received - with some news outlets claiming the punishment could be racially motivated.

The WWE released the following statement when those accusations began to flood in:

“The suspension of Titus O’Neil had nothing to do with race and everything to do with unprofessional conduct,” WWE said in a statement.

Friend of O'Neil's and former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Batista took to social media shortly after what happened and called for O'Neil to ask for his release from the company.

That is now all in the past, however, as it took place over a year ago and O'Neil is currently working one of the most over gimmick in WWE with his "Titus Brand." He recently did an interview on former WWE ring announcer Lilian Garcia's podcast, Chasing Glory, and said he still doesn't understand why he was suspended (quotes via Wrestling Inc.):

"I still don't understand it. I literally put me my hand out and said, 'Ladies first.' So I don't know what the wrong time is to say, 'Ladies first' or the right time.

"It's water under the bridge. It happened and I took ownership of it regardless if I was right, wrong, or indifferent, or if the situation could have been handled different. It happened.

"I served my suspension and its over with. It goes back to the fact that I know who I am and I know what I did and I know why I did it and God has rewarded me tenfold."

What are your thoughts on O'Neil still not understanding why he was suspended by WWE after preventing Vince McMahon from leaving the stage on RAW?
