Robins to sign Collis

Published Add your comment

Goalkeeper Steve Collis is poised to join Bristol City on a deal for the rest of the season.

The 28-year-old has been a free agent since his contract with Crewe was terminated by mutual consent on New Year's Day. Since then, Collis, who worked with City boss Gary Johnson at Yeovil between 2002 and 2006, has been training with the Ashton Gate club in the hope of securing a contract.

"Steve contacted us after leaving Crewe and asked if he could come training and he's been with us a few weeks now," Johnson told the club's official website.

"Not a lot of people are aware of his situation and he's sneaked under the radar to an extent.

"We've got ourselves a very good keeper and he will provide strong competition for Dean Gerken."
