The current status of former Cruiserweight Champion Neville is a very strange one as he reportedly walked out of last week's episode of Monday Night RAW and has since demanded his release from the company.

WWE has yet to confirm Neville's release and the former champion was absent from Monday's episode of RAW amidst rumours that he will depart the company.

Interesting opinions

Everyone appears to have their own opinion on the situation surrounding Neville and with more rumours claiming that other superstars are set to leave the company soon, it could be the start of a big problem for WWE.

Fans are eagerly awaiting any news on Neville's status and recently, Chris Jericho was asked about the situation.

Jericho shared his large amount of admiration for Neville and even compared him to former WWE Champion Chris Benoit.

Benoit has not been mentioned in the WWE since his death back in 2007, but Jericho believes that working with Neville is a lot like working with the Rabid Wolverine.

Speaking with Busted Open Radio, Jericho claimed:

"He reminds me a lot, actually, of working with Chris Benoit in that he’s very hard-hitting, he’s very solid, very graceful and not stiff in the least."

Jericho was involved in the match which saw Neville break his ankle back in 2014 in which Y2J actually pushed the official to bring the match to an end.

Despite his current situation, Jericho discussed the position that the former Cruiserweight Champion found himself in with the WWE.

A sympathetic co-worker?

Jericho discussed the Neville's ability in the ring and he was full of praise for the former Man that Gravity Forgot.

"I think he wasn’t really getting his shot in the WWE, and the Cruiserweight thing is fine but let’s be honest, it is what it is. I think there’s a lot higher potential for a guy like Neville in the ring and also the character.”

Appearing critical of the Cruiserweight division and seemingly agreeing that Neville should be ranked higher in the company, Jericho's comments could reflect poorly on the WWE.

Y2J is currently on time away from the company but his comments could cause trouble within the company.

Jericho's comments, while controversial, seem to reflect the opinion of the WWE Universe who will be sad to see Neville leave the company.
