Manager John Sheridan hopes Chesterfield`s injury problems will ease in time for the visit of neighbours Rotherham.

Leading scorer Jack Lester, captain Ian Breckin and fellow defender Robert Page missed the goalless draw at Northampton on Saturday.

"One or two of them have trained and hopefully they will feature," said Sheridan, who revealed he is trying to sign a player in time for the game.

"We will see how they are and I will pick a team that I think is capable of getting a result against a very good team who I believe will be right up there at the end of the season."

Frankie Artus, signed on loan from Bristol City towards the end of last week, could make his full debut after coming on as a substitute at Sixfields. That is because Ian Morris has returned to Scunthorpe following his loan spell.

Rotherham will be boosted by the news that Dale Tonge is poised to be added to boss Ronnie Moore's starting XI.

Tonge was only deemed fit enough for a place on the substitutes' bench for their 2-1 victory over Grimsby on Saturday following a long lay-off with an ankle injury.

However, the utility man is likely to replace Marc Joseph in a more defensive role for the Millers on Tuesday night.

Striker Adam Le Fondre is assured of a starting berth after his brace against the Mariners helped guide Moore's side to only their second win in their past seven outings.

Defender Nick Fenton is available after he completed the fourth and final game of his ban at the weekend but Paul Warne (foot) and Andy Liddell (Achilles) remain sidelined.
