Injury scuppers Harewood move

Published Add your comment

Newcastle manager Chris Hughton has revealed he will have to look elsewhere to boost his ailing squad following the news that Marlon Harewood's injury is worse than first feared.

The 30-year-old striker was hurt while training with parent club Aston Villa last week, which has all but ended his hopes of a move to St James' Park. Harewood had an impressive three-month loan spell on Tyneside before Christmas where he made nine appearances and scored five goals.

Hughton told the Newcastle Chronicle: "It's a blow for us and I'm really disappointed for Marlon. He was under consideration but we'll have to look at other options now."
