Both Everton and Arsenal came into Sunday's Premier League meeting on the back of tough Europa League assignments on Thursday.
Arsenal needed a moment of brilliance from Olivier Giroud to beat Red Star Belgrade, while Everton's 2-1 loss at home to Lyon ramped up the pressure on Ronald Koeman.
The Gunners lost at Goodison Park last season, but they recovered from an early Wayne Rooney stunner this time round to run out 5-2 winners.

Nacho Monreal, Alexandre Lacazette, Aaron Ramsey and Alexis Sanchez all got on the scoresheet, but it was Ozil who stood out after putting in a man-of-the-match performance.
Whilst the majority of Arsenal fans would have been delighted to see the 29-year-old back to somewhere near his very best, his display will be very costly for one supporter.
Ozil shines at Goodison
In the 53rd-minute, the outstanding Ozil headed in Sanchez's cross to give Arsenal the lead and, in the process, register his first goal of the 2017-18 season.
The German assisted Lacazette's strike, which sealed the victory, and created more chances in the first-half (six) than any other player has managed in a whole Premier League match this term.
Arsenal fan's tweet backfires
During the half-time break, at which Ozil was yet to have a tangible influence on the game (ie. goal or assist), one Arsenal fan decided to put their money where their mouth is.
As you can see below, one Twitter user, with the handle 'MindfulMesut', boldly claimed that if Ozil scored against Everton, he would give anyone who retweeted his tweet £10.
It didn't catch many people's attention immediately after it was posted, but as you can imagine, once Arsenal's German playmaker found the back of the net, the retweets racked up.
Fans on Twitter were demanding that 'Mindful Mesut' "pay up", with some even offering to send him their PayPal details, and this was his funny response after his tweet backfired.
Following several reports linking him with a move to rivals Manchester United, Arsenal fans will be desperate for Ozil to showcase his undeniable talents on a more consistent basis.
It comes as no surprise that the trio of Ozil, Lacazette and Alexis all found the back of the net as Wenger named all three in his starting XI for the very first time.
